In the first matchup of a three-game week scheduled for the University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team, the Cardinals battled back and forth with visiting Angelo State University through regulation and then through two overtime periods… ultimately ending in a 0-0 tie for both Lone Star Conference teams.
The Cardinals (4-1-3 overall, 2-2-1 Lone Star) had 14 shots and the Rambelles (3-5-1, 2-2-1) took 7 in the 110-minute contest. Corner kicks were nearly even at 8 for ASU and 7 for UIW and Incarnate Word was the only team to get an offside call.
Victoria Puentes was only needed to make two real saves in the contest, both in the first half.
UIW will be hosting Eastern New Mexico University at 6 p.m. on Friday night and then will host West Texas A&M on Sunday at noon. Friday's contest is scheduled to be broadcast on UIWtv.
