WALLACE DOMINATES BOARDS, BUT UIW FALLS

Chloe Wallace scored a team-high 16 points against Abilene Christian University on Tuesday, but also grabbed 17 rebounds - almost half of the team's 35 total.

The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team lost to Abilene Christian on Tuesday night, 69-54, despite an amazing effort by junior forward Chloe Wallace.

Wallace scored 16 points to lead the Cardinals, but also pulled down 17 rebounds – nearly half of UIW's 35 total rebounds against the Wildcats.

The all-time record for rebounds in a game is 22 by Stephanie Wiatrek in 1991.

Ifunanya Mora was the only other Cardinal to score in double figures, getting 13 points for UIW along with her 8 rebounds.

ACU led the game from the 12:22-mark in the first half and UIW was able to close the gap to 3 points at 17:26 in the second half, but never got any closer than that the rest of the way. Prior to ACU taking the lead, 15-13, the teams traded the lead a few times to start the game.

Incarnate Word (7-15, 3-7) plays host to Angelo State Unniversity at 2 p.m. on Saturday and then will turn right around on Monday night for a makeup game at the McDermott Center against Eastern New Mexico.

Following those two home games, the Cardinals will hop on the bus and then play at West Texas A&M on Wednesday night and then hurry back home to play host to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, February 26th.
