The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team lost their first Lone Star Conferfence road game of the 2011-12 season on Saturday, falling 83-64 in Stephenville against Tarleton State University.
The Cardinals (6-2 overall, 2-2 in the LSC) fell victim to a near record-breaking performance by TSU's Peyton Adamson who hit 7-of-10 shots from behind the three-point line (the Tarleton women's record is 8 buckets made) and finished with 27 points.
UIW out-rebounded the TexAnns, 34-to-28, and hit just one less shot from the floor, but while the Cardinals drained four three-point shots, the home squad dropped 10.
Junior point guard Katy Cooke scored 21 points for Incarnate Word (including 3-of-6 from the three-point line and 6-of-8 from the free throw line) while Ifunanya Mora added 15 points.
Tarleton had four players score in double-digits.
Up next for the Cardinals is a Wednesday night matchup against Midwestern State University back at the McDermott Center in San Antonio.
