Friday night's Lone Star Conference matchup against Eastern New Mexico gave the University of the Incarnate Word women's team a chance to separate themselves from the Zias in the LSC standings and earn another conference win.
However, 110 minutes later, the Cardinals and ENMU ended their match with a 0-0 draw, remaining deadlocked with 2-1-3 conference records.
It was the second consecutive double overtime draw for the Cardinals (they tied Angelo State, 1-1, on Wednesday night) and the team's fourth, overall, on the season. UIW is now 4-1-4 overall in 2011 and will play host to West Texas A&M – another Lone Star Conference opponent – on Sunday at noon.
Senior goalkeeper Tori Puentes made four saves while the Cardinals out-shot the Zias 15 to 9 through regulation and two overtime periods.
Amber Guenther had four shots for UIW, but only one was on-goal. Sarah Johnson and Angelica Carrizales both put two shots on-net for Incarnate Word as well.
UIW and ENMU are still tied for second in the LSC women's soccer standings. Abilene Christian is alone in first place with a 4-0-1 record – with ACU's draw result coming against UIW in Abilene.
