WOMEN GET FIRST LSC WIN AGAINST TAMUK

Brittany Jackson scored 13 points and along with teammate Chloe Wallace led UIW in scoring against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The University of the Incarnate Word women's team ended a two-game skid and won their first Lone Star Conference divisional game on Saturday, defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville on the Javalinas' home floor, 64-47.

The victory improves the Cardinals' overall record to 5-9 and makes them 1-1 in LSC play.

Brittany Jackson and Chloe Wallace both scored 13 points in the contest, while Ifunanya Mora added 12 points for the Cardinals. Wallace, however, also had 11 rebounds for the game's only double-double.

The score was tied three times – once before the opening tipoff and twice during the first half, but TAMU-Kingsville never led and fell behind by as many as 28 points to Incarnate Word.

UIW out-rebounded Kingsville 44-to-33 and won the turnover battle, 26-to-16. At the free throw line, Incarnate Word was 14-out-of-21 while the Javalinas were just 10-of-12 from the charity stripe.

The Cardinals next face Tarleton State on the road Wednesday night and will return home to the McDermott Center next Saturday for a 2 p.m. showdown against Midwestern State University.
