Junior midfielder Emily Hernandez scored two goals against Abilene Christian University on Friday in a 3-0 victory for the University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team, and her offensive output earned her the honor of being named the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Her two tallies against ACU give her 5 goals on the season, tying her for second in the conference. Currently, Hernandez is a threat to score better than a point (1.43 – fifth-best in the conference) per game and her 76.5 percent accuracy on her shots means she is good to put at least two shots on-net in any game.
The Cardinal women (5-1-1) play at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium this Friday at 6 p.m. against Texas A&M-Commerce.
