Incarnate Word women's basketball coach Angela Lawson said after the Cardinals' last game that she was hopeful that her team would be able to use the off-week for semester finals as a means for her team to heal and return a few players.
On Sunday, UIW faced off against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in Corpus and suffered a 62-51 defeat to the Division I member of the Southland Conference.
But, despite dropping to 4-4, the Cardinals can be happy at the post-game stat sheet:
Seniors Hayley Harvey and Cinnamon Kava, both who have missed most of the games thus far this season due to injury, logged in 29 and 25 minutes, respectively, and contributed on the court.
Harvey, starting the game for UIW, scored eight points and had three rebounds while Kava scored 15 points and had two rebounds in her first game of the season.
Kava was the lone Cardinal to score in double-digits for Incarnate Word. Jasmine Smith added eight points and five rebounds in 38 minutes.
Having dropped two consecutive games, UIW will be back in action on the road this Thursday against Texas-Permian Basin, starting Heartland Conference play for Incarnate Word.
