Xavier Rodriguez came to the University of the Incarnate Word in the spring of 2026 after having coached at various levels all over the country. He currently serves as the lead recruiting coordinator for the men's and women's distance programs.
Rodriguez coached at the Paavo Running Camps and RATX Camps from 2008-24, where he helped train many distance runners who went onto compete at the NCAA Division-I level.Â
From 2022-24, he coached cross country and track at the Northland Preparatory Academy in Flagstaff, Ariz., where he led the boys team to a 2023 state championship while earning the state's Cross Country Coach of the Year award. He also oversaw a girls 4x100-meter relay team that won a state title.
He got into coaching folloiwng a decorated career at Stephen F. Austin from 2008-13, where his accolades included being the high-point runner at the 2011 SLC Outdoor Championships (22 points), a five-time All-SLC selection across cross country and track and a third-team cross country All-American in 2012. His efforts in 2011 helped lead SFA to its first ever Men's Outdoor Conference Championship.
In addition to his coaching duties, Rodriguez is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Sports Management from UIW.
