Malia Viernes joined UIW in 2025 for her first year as a graduate assistant.
Hailing from Cibolo, Texas, Malia Viernes attended Steele High School, where she earned First Team All-District and Academic All-District honors. She continued her athletic and academic journey with stints at Prairie View A&M—where she shined with 183 kills and was named Freshman of the Year—and at Panola College, where she tallied 225 kills, contributing to an All-Conference recognition. At TWU, Malia emerged as a standout performer. In her junior season, she recorded 177 kills, along with impressive defensive stats and a career-high 13-kill match against Midwestern State.
