Biography
2018: Hernandez recorded indoor best times of 5:32.48 in the mile and 10:59.78 in the 3000m. During the outdoor season, she posted her top time of 4:49.76 in the 1500m at the Texas State Bobcat Classic. She crossed the line in 11:19.88 for a seventeen second PR in the 3000m steeplechase at the J Fred Duckett twilight meet before finishing fourth in the event at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships in 11:20.23 on May 5.
2017: Hernandez redshirt her first year with the Cardinals, but competed in the 800, 1500 and 3,000 meter steeple chase unattached. She made appearances at the UIW Cardinal Quadrangle, UIW Invitational and J Fredd Duckett Twilight meet.Â
High School: Hernandez holds the school record in both the 3 mile and 5k. A three year captain, she was also a three-time All-South Texas honoree. She is in the Top 10 record list in the 1 mile, 2 mile, and 800m. She finished seventh in 5A state in cross country and earned All-State accolades. She was a member of the National Honor Society who won the Fall 2016 Leadership Award.
Personal: Hernandez is the daughter of Melissa and Victor Hernandez and is majoring in biology. Her father, Victor, was a member of the Texas A&M track and cross country teams. She has two sisters, Victoria and Catherine. She was born on December 8, 1997.
