Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll
2017: Velez bettered her time in the 3,000 to 11:06.97 to finish second at the UIW Cardinal Quadrangle.
 She showed improvement once again in the 1500 (4:57.15) and 5000 (18:57.40).Â
2016: Velez crossed the line in 19:09.14 to finish third in the 5,000 meters at the UIW Cardinal Invitational. She recorded her best time in the 1500 at the Islander Collegiate Open. Velez posted a personal record in the 3,000 of 11:17.50 at the UIW Private Quad Invite.Â
2015:Â Velez red-shirted her first year at UIW and was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
High School: Velez was a member of the basketball, cross country and track programs at Eagle Pass High School. She was a four-time team MVP in cross country and three-time Regional qualifier. She was also a Regional qualifier in track. She was a Distinguished Honors graduate and member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Velez is the daughter of Gustavo and Rachel Velez and is studying business administration with a minor in marketing. She has two siblings, Gustavo and Karla. She was born on March 26, 1996.
