Coach Marco Guajardo Jr. joined the UIW Track & Field staff in August 2024.
Prior to UIW, Guajardo worked at Premier Athletics (South Texas Speed) as an assistant athletic trainer. Along with the day-to-day activities, he developed techniques for sprinters and jumpers as well as strength, speed, and agility. Guajardo also formed and coached a track and field team (South Texas Speed) that competed as a part of TAAF.
In the summers of 2021 and 2022 he was a Assistant Track & Field coach for the City of San Juan Parks and Recreation and the City of Edinburg Parks and Recreation.
Guajardo graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in May 2023. He also competed on the UTRGV track & field team where he won a number of awards.
