2020 (Junior): Redshirt, did not compete
2019 (Sophomore): Cross country best performance was 21:51 placing 10th at the Southland Conference Cross Country Meet earning second-team all-conference. Indoor best performances, 2nd place at the Southland Conference meet for the mile running a 4:56 and a 10:18 in the 3k placing 10th
2018 (Freshman): Competed in all five events for the Cardinals including the NCAA South Central Regional where she clocked in at 24:25.5 … her best finish of fourth place came at the UIW Invitational Meet where she ran her season-best 6K of 23:28.6.
High School: Henderson scored 22 out of Bandera’s 32 points on her own at the UIL 4A state track and field championships to help the Lady Bulldogs finish sixth overall. The 2017 Texas Girls Coaches Association Cross Country Athlete of the Year, Henderson was a two-time TGCA All-State and was a member of the San Antonio Express-News Super Team. She earned a top 10 finish in the 2017 UIL state championships. As a junior, she helped Bandera win the UIL state team championship and was the Lady Bulldogs’ number two runner in her first year at the varsity level. In track, Henderson was a two-time TGCA Track and Field All-Star and TGCA Track and Field Legacy All-Star. In her first year running track, she was a state qualifier in the 800m as a junior in 2017. She had a tremendous senior season on the track, as she was the district and area champion in the 800m and 3200m, was the regional qualifier in the 800, 1600, and 3200m and was a state qualifier in all three events, and is the school record holder in the 1600 and 3200. She won the state championship in the 3200 and was the runner-up in the 1600. Outside of the track, Henderson was an AP student who graduated in the top 25 percent of her class. She participated in the academic decathlon. Henderson chose UIW because, "it was a family decision. It allowed me to stay close to my parents and friends, while I still pursue an education and growth."
Personal: The daughter of Billy and Yvonne Henderson, Alia is studying Political Science with a minor in Sociology at UIW. She has one brother, Juan, and five sisters: Crystal, Shantell, Bridget, Andrea, and Dominique. Sister, Crystal, competed one year at Texas A&M University. She was born on Aug. 7, in San Antonio.
