Biography

2017-18 (RS-Junior) Played in one tournament, the Fred Marx Invitational.
 
2016-17 (RS-Sophomore) Shot six birdies to help the Cardinals finish second in the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship ... played in the Lady Cardinal Classic and the Bearkat Invitational.

2015-16 (RS-Freshman) Shot a 78 in the second round of the UTRGV Invitational. 

2014-15 (Redshirt):  Aviles was on the UIW roster, but did not compete in any tournaments ... named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Academics: Made the Dean's List in her freshman year.

High School:  Aviles attended the Cupeyville School in Puerto Rico ... was on the golf team.

Personal:  Samantha Paola Aviles is the daughter of Horacio Aviles and Beatriz Navarro ... born June 13, 1995 in Mexico City ... undergraduate major was international business ... graduated in May 2018 ... began studying for her MBA in August 2018 ... aspires to work for an international company that allows her to work with people from around the world ... has a sister, Brenda, 25.

Samantha on her best golf performance: "My best tournament performance was in the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship in Florida in the spring of 2017. I played very consistent throughout the tournament helping my teammates and myself achieve second place as a team."

When and wny did you start playing golf?  "At age 11. My father loves sports. From a young age, he would put me in different sports teams in school. However, we lived close by a public golf course that was very cheap, so he started to take me there every day after school."

Who is your inspiration in golf? "Lorena Ochoa, who was a professional golfer from Mexico who was the best golfer in the world for a few years."
