Arcadio (Archie) Ramos Jr.

University of the Incarnate Word Athletic Director Richard Duran announced the hiring of Women's Golf Head Coach Arcadio (Archie) Ramos Jr. on Monday, June 17.

In his first season at the helm the Cardinals finished fourth in the Southland Conference Championship. He helped guide Isabella Saenz to a fifth place finish in the Southland Conference Championship. Saenz was later named to the SLC Second Team All-Conference and SLC Second Team All-Academic Team.

Ramos comes to UIW from Johnson High School where he built an impressive resume as the Assistant Boys and Girls Golf Coach from 2021-2023, before becoming the Head Coach in July of 2023. As head coach, the boys broke a school record with a low tournament score of 279 and a low two-day round of 564. The girls also broke a school record with a low tournament score of 289 and low three-round total of 884.

Ramos spent time as a professional golfer for nearly four years before an injury sidelined his playing career and led him to coaching. As a pro, Ramos competed on the Banorte Mexico Tour, the Dakotas Tour, and the NTPGA Tour. While competing, he had seven top-ten finishes and one win, with an average score of 71.8.

The San Antonio native spent the first two years of his college career at UIW. Ramos played two seasons under Head Coach Brad Martin, before transferring to St. Mary's University. Ramos finished his college career with the Rattlers, graduating with a bachelor's in business management.
