Biography
High School: Cissy Gutierrez began fencing in college, but was a standout softball player under Head Coach Ruth Garcia at McAllen H.S. A regional semi-finalist, Gutierrez helped the Bulldogs to four consecutive playoff appearances from 2009 through 2012. A member of the Distinguished Achievement Program, Gutierrez was a Texas Scholar, Tech-Prep Scholar, Texas Music Scholar and the October 2012 Rotary Club Student of the Month. A band and wind ensemble member, Gutierrez was a drum major in 2010 and 2011. She also participated in track and field, orchestra and Rotary Club.
Personal: Daughter of Bob and Kelly Gutierrez, Cissy is studying Broadcast Meteorology, with a minor in Communications. She was born on April 19, and has two siblings, Robby and Iris. Her brother Robby played baseball for Northwood University, and is currently The Voice of Keiser University Seahawks Athletics. A well-rounded student-athlete, Cissy is a member of the UIW Math Club, Metrology Club and Engineering Club. She is also a UIW drum major and a member of both the marching band and wind ensemble. Gutierrez works with UIWtv and UIW radio. She is also a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and earned a spot on homecoming court.
