University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

2013 (Sophomore): Castaneda had two top ten finishes as a sophomore. She took first place at the Alamo City Opener 4K after running 14:41.61 and fourth place at the TLU Invitational 3.25 miles after frunning 19:27.95.

2012 (Freshman): In her first year as a Cardinal Castaneda ran in five meets. She had a season best time of 23:42.0 at the UIW 6K and took 11th place. She was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and was awarded USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.

High School: Castaneda was a three-time State qualifier in cross country at Laredo United South High School. She was named the school's Athlete of the Year in 2009 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also on the track team.

Personal: Castaneda is the daughter of Jesse and Susie Castaneda and is studying political science. She has six siblings; Elizabeth, Kali, Tori, J.D. Liv and Esai. Her full name is Christian Rain Castaneda and she was born on May 3, 1994.
