Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll
2014 (Freshman): Velez competed in three meets as a true freshman. She finished the Alamo City Opener 4K in 19th place. In the UIW Invitational 6K, she came in 74th place with a time of 26:43.8. Velez was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
High School: Velez was a member of the basketball, cross country and track programs at Eagle Pass High School. She was a four-time team MVP in cross country and three-time Regional qualifier. She was also a Regional qualifier in track. She was a Distinguished Honors graduate and member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Velez is the daughter of Gustavo and Rachel Velez and is studying business administration with a minor in accounting. She has two siblings, Gustavo and Karla. She was born on March 26, 1996.
