Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll
2014 (Freshman): Quintero started off his UIW career with his top finish of the season of 14th in the Alamo City Opener 6K with a time of 20:19.53. In the Notre Dame Catholic Championships 8K, he was the top newcomer for UIW with a 27:28.54 time to finish in 71st place overall. Quintero helped UIW almost edge off Oral Roberts for fourth in the OSU Cowboy Jamboree with a 26th place. He was named to the SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
High School:Â Â Quintero was a member of the track and cross country teams at Burgess High School. Â As a senior, he was a State qualifier in cross country and finished 39th. Â He was fifth in the region with a time of 15:42 for 5K. Â In track, he was a State qualifier in the 800 meters. Â His top times from high school were 4:25 in the 1600 meters and 1:55 in the 800 meters. Â He finished third in the region in both the 800 and 1600. Â He also qualified for the State meet in cross country as a junior.
Personal:  Quintero is the son of Valentin and Patricia Quintero and is studying rehabilitative sciences with a minor in kinesiology. He has three siblings, Alex, Hector, and Loiren. He was born June 1, 1996.Â
