Blair Sohl is entering his sixth year as an assistant coach with the UIW track teams and his first year as a full-time assistant coach.  He is the recruiting coordinator and coaches the pole vault.

In his first year with UIW, he guided Eduardo Alexander to a third place finish in the pole vault at the Lone Star Conference outdoor championships with a clearance of 14-11.  The following year, in 2012, he coached Jacob Ulbricht who finished in third place at the Lone Star Conference indoor and outdoor meets.  Alexander ended his career in 2014 with a career best jump of 15-8 after suffering a potential career-ending injury in 2013.

In the move to Division I and the Southland Conference starting in 2013 Ulbricht scored at each conference meet he competed at through the 2016 season.  At the 2015 Southland outdoor championships Eduardo Aguilar took home sixth place in the pole vault when Ulbricht red-shirted the season.

Sohl served as the strength and conditioning coach for the track and field program from 2011-13.  He has served as the cross country strength and conditioning coach since 2011.

Sohl is originally from San Antonio, but attended Adams State where he was on the football and track teams.  He was a 16-foot vaulter for the Grizzlies, perennially one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country.  He was a two-time RMAC Indoor and Outdoor Champion in the pole vault and earned 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor All-America honors.  He earned a degree in human performance and physical education with a minor in coaching and history.

Sohl went to St. Anthony’s High School in San Antonio and was a highly touted running back in addition to his track prowess.  He earned a Master’s degree from UIW in 2012.  He is a USTFCCCA Level II Coach for sprints, hurdles and jumps.
