University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

2015-16 (Sophomore): Fussell swam backstroke for the Cardinals and was one of the top fastest UIW performers in the 200 medley relay for the backstroke leg. He also competed in the sprint freestyle events.

2014-15 (Freshman):  Fussell finished in second place in the 200 backstroke event against Southwestern.  He led off the 200 medley relay team that finished second against Southwestern.  He also finished third in the same event at the UIW Christmas Invitational, but his best time came in the CCSA championships with a time of 1:49.46.  He finished third in the 200 individual medley against Trinity and posted his best 100 backstroke time at the CCSA championships (50.46).  

High School:  Fussell was on the swim team at Deer Park High School.  He was a three-time team MVP and earned all-State honors three times.  He set school records in the 200-yard medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 free relay, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.  He was a three-time district Male Swimmer of the Meet.  He helped lead his team to four district championships.  He was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal:  Fussell is the son of Louis and Lorraine Fussell and is studying kinesiology.  He has a sister, Samantha.  He was born on November 27, 1995.
