Callum Riley is the volunteer assistant coach at the University of the Incarnate Word’s men’s soccer program. He joined the coaching staff at the beginning of the 2020-2021 season.

Riley helped guide the Cardinals through a COVID-19 shortened season that fielded just nine contests. The Cardinals went 2-7-0 in the Spring 2021 Western Athletic Conference-only season. Riley helped the Cardinals to a 3-2, come-from-behind win over UNLV in the season opener in Feb. 13 that garnered Kevin Gutia WAC Player of the Week honors with two goals in the game. Overall, the Cardinals scored 10 goals with 33 shots on goal and a .541 shot on goal average. Defensively, the Cardinals allowed just 20 goals on the season and collected 42 saves. UIW held opponents to a .187 shot percentage and a .579 on-goal average in his first season back on the Cardinals’ sidelines. Riley was instrumental in developing two Cardinals to be placed on the program’s first WAC All-Freshman team selections in Best Emena and Eduardo Perez.

An alumnus of the UIW Men's Soccer program, Riley is a native of Leicester, England. Prior to playing for the Cardinals in 2008 he represented Leicester City FC’s youth academy for seven years and earned three caps for England Schoolboys U18s.

Riley returned to the UK in 2014 and continued his playing career with Hitchin Town FC. During this time, he held full-time posts in marketing and communications for the English Football Association and The Housing Forum before returning to south Texas in 2020.

Providing support to head coach Kiki Lara and assistant coach Carlos Sendin Castelao, he adds years of coaching experience and player development knowledge to the staff.
