Randy Morris

Randy Morris joined the UIW men's golf coaching staff prior to the 2014-15 season and he brings a wealth of coaching experience to the position.

Morris was involved in public education for 32 years and has been coaching golf since 1986.  He was the head boys and girls coach at Smithson Valley High School from 1986-99.  He started and built the golf program at SVHS.  He then took over the reigns for Reagan and Lee High School in the San Antonio Northeast ISD school district from 1999-03 for both boys and girls.  Prior to joining the UIW staff, he was the boys and girls golf coach at Lake Travis from 2003-14.

Morris led the Reagan High School boy's team to a pair of 5A State tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001 and his girl's team made it to the State tournament in 2001.

He had his greatest success coaching at Lake Travis.  His boy's teams made it to the State 4A or 5A tournament in eight of 11 years finishing as the runner-up in 2003 and 2010 and in third place in 2007.  In addition, he won three consecutive State titles in 2011 (4A), 2012 (4A) and 2013 (5A).  He had two players, Adam Wennerstrom in 2007 and Joe Beck III in 2011, finish as the 4A State Medalist.

Morris' Lake Travis girl's teams have had nearly as much success as the boy's teams.  They qualified for 11 straight State tournaments and won the 2013 5A title.  They finished as runner-ups in 2010, 2011 and 2014 and were third in 2005 and 2006.

Morris was named the 2013 Boys Golf Coach of the Year by the NFHS Coaches Association.  As a player, he has won several Men's Partnership Golf Tournaments and finished in sixth place at the 1998 Greater San Antonio Men's Amateur Championship.

Morris and his wife of 30 years, Anne, reside in Canyon Lake and have three children: Stephanie, Becca and Aaron.
