High School:  Gutierrez compteted in track and cross country at New Braunfels High School.  He was the district champion in the 3200 meters as a senior and was part of two district championship cross country teams.

Personal:  Gutierrez is the son of Blanca Hernandez and is studying nutrition.  He was born on November 4, 1993.
