Senior (2018):
The senior leader led the women’s team to a successful 2018 campaign. She finished with the best time on the team in three of five events and was consistently pacing the UIW pack through races. She put up her third career top-5 finish at the 13th annual UIW Invite, running 6k in 23:41.7. She battled through muddy course conditions to finish 10th at the Southland Conference Championships, earning 2nd team All-Southland for the second time in her career. Martinez concluded her UIW cross country career by helping her team improve by three spots at the NCAA South Central Regional Finals, finishing with a team-best 22:47.6 in taxing conditions.
 
Junior (2017): Started her junior year with one of her best races, putting up a team-best time of 14:49.1 in the women’s 4.1k at Texas A&M (Sept. 1, 2017). She finished fifth overall at the race, besting runners from Texas and Texas A&M in the process. It was her first career top-5 result and her fifth in the top-10. Martinez banked another top-10 result in a 6k race at Abilene Christian (Sept. 16, 2017). After shaving seven seconds off of her 5k time at the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival, she earned her second top-5 finish at the 12th annual UIW invite. Her times continued to improve over the next two races, culminating in Martinez setting her personal best at the NCAA South Central Regional Finals, running 6k in 21:37.4.
 
Sophomore (2016): Martinez kept her momentum going into her sophomore campaign, finishing with the best time on the team in four of five races. She ran a team-best 5k in 18:02.29 at the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival, hosted by Arkansas on Oct. 1, 2016. Martinez turned in another top-10 finish at the UIW Invite, finishing in 7th. She ran her best race of the season at the Southland Conference Championships, once again, setting a personal best time of 21:54.4 in the 6k. Her time earned her eighth place in the conference and a 2nd Team All-SLC honor.
 
Freshman (2015): Martinez asserted herself as a top runner from the start of her UIW career. She finished second on the team, and 16th overall in her first collegiate race at the Baylor Bear Invitational (Sept. 1, 2015) with a 4k time of 14:40.5. She earned her first career top-10 result at the Rice Invitational just 10 days later (Sept. 11, 2015). At the 10th annual UIW invite, Martinez solidified her role as one of the team’s top runners by, once again finishing second on the team and collecting her second top-10 of the season (6th place). She saved her best running for the Southland Conference Championships, where she turned in a personal-best 6K time of 22:22.4, shaving 1:49 off a time she had set one month prior. She finished 17th at conference.
 
High School:  Martinez was on the track and cross country teams at Canyon High School.  She helped lead the cross country team to three appearances at the State meet.  She set the school record in the 5K for cross country with a time of 19:02.  During the track season she set the school record in the 3200 meters with a time of 11:16. She also ran 5:16 in the 1600 meters.  She was academic all-district four times and was a two-time academic All-State selection.  She was a member of student council and Young Americans for Freedom.  She earned the Track Athlete of the Year scholarship (Jimmy Muenich Scholarship).

Personal:  Martinez is the granddaughter of Bob and Gail Reed and is studying pre-pharmacy and biology.  She has three siblings; Travis, Anthony and Rey.  She was born on November 29.
