Biography
CCSA All-Academic Team
2014-15 (Sophomore): O'Connell only swam during the first semester for the Cardinals. His main focus was on the breaststroke events, but he also swam the 50 freestyle and 200 individual medley events. He was named to the CCSA All-Academic Team.
2013-14 (Freshman): O'Connell swam in three meets over Christmas break. His best times of the year came at the UIW Christmas Invitational where he clocked a 24.33 for the 50-yard freestyle, 1:02.51 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:18.11 in the 200 breaststroke. He was named to the CCSA All-Academic Team.
High School: O'Connell was on the swim team at Steele High School. He set the school records in the 200 IM, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. He led the team to a district championship and earned Academic All-District honors. He was a UIL Accounting district champion.
Personal: O'Connell is the son of Tim and Lyn O'Connell and is studying accounting. He has a brother, Matthew. His uncle played football in the NFL. He was born on June 18, 1995.
