Biography
2014 (Junior): Garza was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. Garza set the school record in the indoor mile in the preliminaries of the Southland Conference meet with a time of 5:03.03. She finished eighth in the finals. She also ran the second fastest time in school history in the indoor 3,000 meters with a time of 10:26.32. During the outdoor season she posted the second fastest time in school history in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:02.01 at Stephen F. Austin. She missed the conference meet with an injury.
2013 (Sophomore): Garza was consistently the teams top distance runner and was a member of the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. She set three school records during the indoor season in the 800 meters (2:21.68), mile (5:05.79) and 3000 meters (10:48.47). She finished second in the 800 and mile at the McNeese Indoor meet. Once she moved outdoors, she won the first 1500 meters she entered at the UIW Invitational and also won the mile at the McNeese Invitational. She broke 4:50 in the 1500 on three occasions and clocked a season best 18:05.93 in the 5000 meters at the Texas State Invitational where she finished second.
2012 (Freshman): Garza was named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and to the USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Team. She was the team's top middle distance runner setting school records in the 800 and 1500 meters. She earned USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors in the 1,500 meters. She set the 800 mark at the Trinity Invitational with a time of 2:20.80 and the 1500 mark at the Rice Twilight with a time of 4:32.66. She won the Trinity Tiger Relays 1500 meters with a time of 4:43.77 and was second in the 1500 meters at the UIW Invitational. During the indoor season she earned a pair of runner-up finishes at the LSC Invitational. She was second in the mile with a time of 5:20.86 and second in the distance medley relay.
High School: Garza was a three-sport athlete at St. Anthony's. She was the State Runner-up in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meters and was a national qualifier in the 1500 meters. She earned Academic All-America honors.
Personal: Garza is the daughter of Jose and Leticia Garza and is studying rehabilitative sciences. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and was born on April 3, 1993.
