Biography

2012-13 (Junior):  Nikishenko had a fantastic season culminating in a national runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke when he swam a school-record time of 1:44.78.  In addition to earning CSCAA All-America honors in the 200 backstroke, he was also an All-American in the 100 butterfly, 400 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.  He was an Honorable Mention All-American in the 100 backstroke.  He won both the 100 and 200 backstrokes at the Drury Invitational and took gold in the 100 butterfly at the UIW Christmas Invite.  He was a part of two record-setting relay teams, the 200 and 400 medley relays.

High School:  Nikishenko was on the swim team at the High School of Physical Education.  He was a Ukrainian national in seven consecutive years winning the 50, 100 and 200-yard backstroke as well as the 200-yard freestyle during that stretch.  He set the national record in the 200-yard backstroke in 2009 with a time of 1:59.74.  He was a bronze medalist in the Junior European Championships and won international meets in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Personal:  Nikishenko is the son of Oleg and Anzhela Nikishenko and is studying sports management.  His father played soccer in college in Ukraine.  He was born on October 24, 1988.
