University partners with Athletics Admin to identify the next leader of Cardinals athletics

The University of the Incarnate Word has officially launched a national search for the University's next director of athletics.

As part of the national search process, UIW leadership is partnering with Athletics Admin to identify and evaluate qualified candidates for this important leadership position. UIW will also appoint a small search committee to assist throughout the process.

"We are seeking a mission-driven, student-athlete-centered leader who understands the important role athletics plays throughout our university and across the greater San Antonio community," said John Bury, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "We look forward to identifying a forward-thinking leader who can build upon the momentum of Cardinals athletics. Athletics Admin brings a strong understanding of UIW, the evolving college athletics landscape and the type of leadership needed for this vital position."

Though a definitive timeline for the search process has not been established, UIW anticipates selecting its next director of athletics during the winter of 2026-27. The selected candidate will become the fifth full-time director of athletics to lead the department during UIW's Division I era.
