Win Streak Reaches Eight in a Row for Men's Tennis

Box Score SAN ANTONIO, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team extended its win streak to eight games with a 5-2 victory over the University of Louisiana on Sunday morning at the Mabry Tennis Center.

With the victory, Incarnate Word improves to 8-1 on the season, while Louisiana falls to 6-5 with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Doubles play opened with a point for Incarnate Word as the tandem of grad student Emilio Vila and freshman Augustin Salazar were 6-2 winners in the No. 3 slot, while sophomores Alejandro Hernandez and Alexandre Chauvel won 7-6 (8-6) at No. 2.
  • In singles play, Vila won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, and Salazar was a 7-5, 6-3 winner in the fourth flight.
  • Sophomore Marcel Miralles turned in a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles as freshman Ian Uraga battled to a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 decision to complete the scoring for Incarnate Word.
