SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team played two close matches this past week. The Cardinals lose a 1-0 match to Gonzaga on Thursday, and played to a 0-0 draw against the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Sunday. 

Game 1: UIW 0, GON 1   

It took 81 minutes for someone to find the back of the net and it was Gonzaga who was able to convert the late game opportunity to steal a win on the road. 

Keeper Alejandro De La Torre allowed just one goal on seven shots with four saves.  

Game 2: UIW 0, UMASS 0  

The Cardinals and River Hawks played to a 0-0 tie. The River Hawks put up ten shots, while the Red and Black put up nine. 

De La Torre surrendered recorded eight saves and his second clean sheet of the season. 

UIW is back in action on Friday against Our Lady of the Lake to cap off their five game homestand.
