DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team showed out in game two of the 2025 Purple College Basketball Invitational (CBI), taking down Jacksonville 89-71 on Monday afternoon.
The Cardinals had the three leading scorers in the game.
Davion Bailey scored 23,
Jalin Anderson had 22 and
Jordan Pyke added 21. Behind these amazing performances UIW held the lead for 39 of the 40 minutes in the game.
The Cardinals were in control from the onset of the game, scoring the first six points.
Davion Bailey led the way scoring 12 early, seven of which came from the free throw line.
UIW continued to roll through the first half, as Jalin and Jordan joining Bailey with 10+ points in the half. The Cards went into the break up 40-32.
A few minutes into the second half the Cardinals forced three straight turnovers, scoring five points and pushing their lead to the largest of the game of 12, 49-37. UIW didn't stop there, a pair of threes from both DB and Dylan helped push that Cardinal lead to 20.
The Cardinal lead faltered a little down the stretch when the Dolphins capitalized on a nine second-half offensive rebounds scoring 12 second chance point. However, it was too little too late and the Cardinals held on to the lead, finishing the game with an 87-71 win.
