EDWARDSVILLE, IL – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team finished their season with a 1-0 loss to the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougars on Wednesday night in the semi-final of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
 
In the first half the Cougars held control. SIUE got off more shots, seven compared to three, and committed fewer fouls, seven compared to 11. Despite the difference the Cardinals only conceded one goal in the first 45 and went into the break down 1-0.
 
In the second half in the pouring rain the Cardinals did what they are known to do all season, put the pressure on. UIW was able to fire off seven more shots and hold the Cougars to just two. Along with the offense making big moves up the field Alejandro De La Torre and his amazing back line of defense remained solid not allowing another goal. The Cardinals were not able to put the ball in the net down the stretch and in the end fell 1-0 to SIUE.
