SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's track & field teams had fourteen student-athletes named to the 2023 Southland Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference teams. Along with this,
Isaiah Hudgens won Outstanding Field Events Performer and
Dr. Derek Riedel was named the Leon Johnson Coach of the Year for the fifth time in the last two seasons.
Making first team all-conference was
Isaiah Hudgens who won the title in the decathlon scoring 7915 points and
Klaire Bentley who won the shot put with a 15.31-meter throw.
Mati Poli (pole vault) and
Garrett Stokes (hammer throw) both took the silver medal in their events earning them a spot on the second team. Their teammates
Christopher Daniels and
Kyle Sieracki earned their spots by finishing second in two events. Daniels in the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase; Sieracki in the decathlon and the pole vault.
Jeremiah Gilliam helped the Crads complete a sweep of the decathlon finishing third and earning a spot on the third team.
Austin Davisson (Pole Vault),
Matheo Bernat (110m Hurdles),
Alexandre Fetizon (3,000m Steeplechase),
Thomas Gignoux,
Corin Burns,
Cameron Crowe,
Tevijon Williams (4x100m relay) also took home bronze medals and rounded out the third team for UIW.
