SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word softball team fell 7-0 to hometown rival, UTSA. This was the second matchup between the two teams and the second win for the Roadrunners.
UTSA struck fast and hard, much like the Cardinals did over the weekend. They scored two runs in the first inning and thus set the pace of the game.
UIW only notched four hits in the game and tallied four strikeouts. Kendall McGary and Baylee Lemons had back-to-back doubles, but the Cardinals struggled to capitalize. In only two innings UIW didn't get a single player on base.
Pitching was a bit of a struggle for the Cardinals as three different players entered into the game. Each averaged around 40 pitches but suffered three hits.
The Cardinals now look to prepare for a weekend series with conference foe, Texas A&M-Commerce.
