EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team lost to the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Cougars 1-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference championship game on Saturday night.
The first half was a battle for the Cardinals. SIUE was very aggressive racking up eight fouls compared to only two for UIW. However, this aggression also came with seven shots and one goal that gave the Cougars the 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Cardinals were able to stay solid in defense not allowing a goal in the second half, and despite getting a few shots on goal, UIW was not able to score and fell to SIUE 1-0.
