SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team continued to roll, winning both of their games this week. First taking down Eastern Illinois by a score of 4-2 and shutting out Southern Indiana 4-0.
 
GAME 1: UIW 4, EASTERN ILLINOIS 2
 
The Cardinals once again gave up the first goal of the game in the twenty-third minute.
 
In the forty-first minute Eduardo Perez was fouled inside of the box giving the Cardinals a penalty kick. Peleg Armendariz took the PK but it was saved by the goalkeeper. Miles Merritt found the ball off of the deflection and put it in the back of the goal, tying the game. One minute later the Cougars scored to retake the lead into the half.
 
The teams went back and forth throughout the second half until the seventy-ninth minute Francisco Segura scored from another goalkeeper deflection, once again tying the game.
 
The Cardinals found the back of the net one more time a few minutes later. This time the ball was deflected from Erick Rios to the feet of Sello Diphoko, giving the Cards a 3-2 lead.
 
UIW sealed the game with a fourth and final goal late in the game when Luis Zuniga dropped the ball off to Cesar "Danny" Elizalde.
 
GAME 2: UIW 4, SOUTHERN INDIANA 0
 
The first half was easy like a Sunday morning and the teams went into the half tied at 0.
 
The second half was a different story and the Cardinals starting the scoring early and often.
 
About 10 minutes into the half Elizalde sent a corner kick into the box to Timothy Ospina. Ospina's header sent the ball the Diphoko who scored the goal.
 
A minute later the roles were reversed. Diphoko found a streaking Elizalde who scored the second goal of the game putting UIW up 2-0.
 
The scoring was put on hold for roughly 10 minutes until Segura sent another ball into the box to the head of Armendariz and into the net.
With four minutes left to go Carson Price scored his first goal of the season and the final UIW goal of the week.
