The Cardinals are back in the Southland Conference postseason for the third year in a row and are looking to take down the defending champion, Islanders who bounced the Cardinals from the 2019 championships.

"It has been a roller coaster of a season, with several unexpected changes in our lineup due to quarantines and other various reasons. Despite everything, the guys have rallied tremendously, showing true grit and battling until the end," UIW coach Jonas Andersson said. "We also have some freshmen players that stepped up and got some huge wins against ACU and Nicholls that helped us qualify for our third conference tournament in a row. I'm really proud of this young team and how far we've come this year."

UIW went 5-8 overall and 2-3 in Southland Conference play this season. The Cardinals look to maintain momentum into the conference championships after a 5-2 win over the Colonels to finish the regular season last Sunday and avenge a 6-1 loss they suffered to the Islanders last Wednesday.

Leading the charge for UIW is senior Warren Fulgenzi Jr. who is riding a three-match individual win streak and a two-match doubles win streak with Joao Sasso. Fulgenzi Jr. is 7-4 overall this season as Dennis Boisseau, Marko Galic and Sasso all have four individual wins this year. Fulgenzi Jr. and Sasso also hold a 7-4 overall mark at the No. 2 doubles position.

The Boisseau and Marwin Kralemann tandem have gone 2-3 at the No. 1 doubles slot and look to gain momentum after a win at Nicholls.
