Cardinals set for the Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete at the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium at the McFerrin Athletic Center.

The Cardinals face a big lineup of Southland Conference opponents (HBU, Lamar, McNeese, SFA, Northwestern State and Sam Houston) while also competing against Texas, Texas Lutheran, A&M Kingsville, UTRGV, UT-Tyler, Southwestern and Washington State. The meet is set to start at 4:30 p.m. (CT) with the men's high jump event.
 
LAST TIME OUT - Highlights
Richard Kuykendoll broke his own record in the 400-meter dash, setting a new program record of 47.26 seconds with the best performance by a freshman in the SLC this season.
 
Afiah Brathwaite had strong performances in both track and field events. She finished first in her heat in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.14 seconds. The freshman set a new program record in the high jump of 1.73 meters, taking first place in the event.
 
Senior Jordan Cherin had career-best performances at the meet, in the 400-meter dash and the 800 meters. His time of 49.25 in the 400 meters, is a personal best that puts him among the top-10 in program history. Cherin ran the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.36 clocking the second-best time in the event in program history and in the Southland Conference.
