HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
Nicholls brought in four runs in the first two innings to take the early lead. UIW got on the board in the top of the fourth when Neatherlin hit a double and later scored on an infield error. The Colonels responded with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth, holding on for a 7-1 win.
Game 2
The Colonels had some more first-inning success, scoring a pair of runs to open up the game. They added two more in the fourth to open up a 4-0 lead. UIW scored its first run of the game thanks to a bases-loaded single from Flores, making it 4-1. Nicholls countered with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it 6-1. The Cardinals began to rally in the top of the seventh, with Flores hitting a two-RBI home run over the left field wall to cut the deficit in half.
