Men's soccer drops a hard-fought battle to GCU
SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Grand Canyon on Sunday night at Benson Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF:
Both teams started the game with a strong defense. Carlos Mercado highlighted the period, saving a penalty kick by GCU's Josh Drack.
SECOND HALF:
The Cardinals stepped up their aggressive offensive play in the second period but were unable to hold the Lopes scoreless. Drack scored the game's lone goal in the 77th minute, putting GCU up 1-0.

GCU: 4-4
UP NEXT
The Cardinals travel to Colorado to face the Air Force Academy on Thursday. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. (CT) at the Cadet Soccer Stadium.
