COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo – The University of the Incarnate Word Men's soccer team fell in a 91
st minute goal in overtime to No. 18 Air Force, which resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Falcons Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first half, the Air Force Falcons (7-1-1, 1-0 WAC) would lead the game in shots having 13, and the Cardinals (2-5-1, 0-1 WAC) having 5. UIW would get on the board first, with a goal from
Marjan Gamsjager in the 51
st minute. Three minutes later AFA John Sims would knock in a header assisted by Austin Dewing. This tied the game up in the 54
th minute, and would be the last score of regulation. Twenty-seven seconds into overtime the Falcons would Austin Guererro managed to get on past the Cardinals defense to win the game.
LEADERS
Brendan Brown of the Cardinals recorded 9 saves in the match, this would be the most saves recorded by a cardinal goalie since
Jorge Guzman stopped 12 against Utah Valley on November 5, 2016.
Marjan Gamsjager would led the Cardinals with their lone shoot made on the day.
