ABILENE, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team closed out the season with a 5-2 Southland Conference loss to Abilene Christian on Friday at the Eager Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Wildcats (16-9, 3-1 SLC) got the match rolling with two wins in the doubles competition at #2 and #3 to secure the doubles point. Then in singles, just needing three match wins, they took four out of six from the Cardinals (6-15, 1-4 SLC). The lone Cardinal winners were defending Southland Conference Co-Player of the Week, Francisco Bendana at #2, and Joey Vatanadilok at #3. Bendana won his match in straight sets 7-5, 7-5, and Vatanadilok took his win 6-2, 6-3.

UP NEXT

This was the last match for UIW. They finished the year 6-15 overall, and 1-4 in conference.
