HOUSTON – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team drove east on I-10 to face Rice, where they lost 4-0 Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Owls (11-4) started off the match with two wins in doubles at #2 and #3, earning the doubles' point.
Then in singles, the Cardinals were unable to recover and lost the first three matches at #4, #2, and #1 in that order for the loss.
Ivanhoe Lissanevitch at #3 won his first set 6-2 and was tied 3-3 in the second set.
Caleb Dyer at #6 split the first two sets, and was down 1-0 in the decisive third set. At #6,
Nedim Ahmic won his first set 6-4 and was leading his second 3-2 before having to end play early to the the Owls' victory.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals will have nine off days before playing four homes matches in six days. They play Georgia Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m., New Orleans on Tuesday at 12 p.m., Navy on Thursday at 1 p.m., and Marquette on Friday at 1 p.m.
