SAN ANTONIO, Tx – Second-half push helps San Jose St. beat University of the Incarnate Word Men's Soccer team 2-0 Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the first half ending in a 0-0 tie, San Jose State's (4-9-1,2-3-1 WAC) Jeremy Romero would get one on the board in the 58
th minute with a nice cross kick placed in from Zach Penner. Penner himself would get on the goal in the 79
th minute with a header coming off a free kick.
The Cardinals (3-10-1,1-6-0 WAC) had a chance to get on the board late in the game when
Kas Van Eekelen had a shot hit the post in the 86
th minute. The rebound came straight back to him and on the shot, attempt it would end up hitting the post again, while the keeper was out of position.
LEADERS
Kas Van Eekelen led all Cardinals with three shots,
Ronan Fournier recorded two,
Brendan Brown had one save.
SJSU Jeremy Romero led with two shots on goal and one goal, Joe Kay had an assist, and Zach Penner would record an assist and a goal on the night.
