WACO, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team opened the season with a 7-0 loss to the 22^nd ranked Baylor tennis team on the Bears' home courts Saturday.

In the doubles match, Francisco Bendana and Sebastian Mortier paired up to take the only match of the day for the Cardinals, as they defeated the Bears' pair 7-5. The Bears took the other two doubles matchups and swept all six singles matches.

In the six single matches, Mortier played the closest match, as he lost to Johannes Schretter 6-4, 6-3. Joey Vatanadilok lost to #44 Tchoutakian 6-0,6-3, while #108 Bandana lost to #81 Jimmy Bendeck 6-2, 6-2.

The Cardinals will look to bounce back as they face Grand Canyon University at Waco today.
