HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tale of two halves for the Cardinals (2-5-1, 0-1 WAC), who gave up three goals in the first half and found themselves in too deep of a hole. In just a span of about a minute, the Falcons (7-3, 2-0 WAC) scored twice to take a 2-0 lead. Cameron Duley and Luis Martinez scored in the 18
th and 19
th minute, respectively. Then in the 34
th minute, Tucker Axhoj scored his first goal of the season to give the Falcons a comfortable 3-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Cardinals were able to get better looks at goal and finally got on the board in the 58
th minute when
Ben Conway got fouled in the box and converted the penalty kick for his second goal of the season.
Ryan Osborne then looked to have scored to make it 3-2 but the goal was called back after an offside call. UIW didn't stop there. They kept attacking and looking to get back in the game. In the 80
th minute, Osborne hit a low cross into the box, and
Roberto Diaz Fernandez had a diving header that ended in the back of the net for his firs of the season. With the score 3-2 and the Cardinals looking to tie it, Air Force took advantage of the attacking Cardinals and Klint Parker made it 4-2 in the 90
th minute with his fourth goal of the season.
