SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match to visiting University of Louisiana on Sunday afternoon at the Mabry Tennis Center. (

The Cardinals (0-2) started the match well by earning the single doubles point available. UIW's top two doubles teams each won their matches.
Joey Vatanadilok and
Sebastian Mortier won at first position, 6-4 while
Josip Smoljan and
Francisco Bendana won 7-5 at #2.
In singles action, the Ragin' Cajuns picked up straight set victories at #1, 3 and 6 behind the play of Arthur Libaud, Vlad Kramarov and Eric Perez. Smoljan won 6-4, 6-1 at #2 singles and Mortier won 6-4, 6-3 at #4 singles to leave the match tied at 3-3 with only one match remaining.
The deciding match proved to be at #5 singles. Will Huyton took the first set against
Tucker Brown, 6-3, but Brown evened it up with a 6-2 win in the second set. Huyton was able to prevail in the third set, 6-4 and give Louisiana the victory.
The Cardinals are back in action on February 5 at home against Trinity.
