SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team traveled across town to Roadrunner Field on Saturday and they were run-ruled by UTSA, 13-1.
The Roadrunners (9-4) jumped on top of the Cardinals (1-11) right from the get-go.  Kendall Burton led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and scored on Courtney Buchman's homer and the rout was on.  Burton would later cap off the eight run first inning with a three-run homer.
The Cardinals scored their only run of the game without aid of a hit.  Two walks, a hit by pitch and a ground out put a run on the board in the second inning.
UTSA put the game away with a five-run third inning.  The game was called after 4.5 innings.  UTSA finished with 10 hits with four going for extra bases and they drew five walks.  Nicole Merrill picked up the complete game victory allowing one hit, one run and four walks while striking out four.
Sarah Leal was tagged with the loss for the Cardinals.  Neither team committed an error in the contest.  The two teams will meet again on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
