Cardinals Drop Final Match of Regular Season

LAWTON, OKLAHOMA – In a battle of top 20 NCAA Division II men's tennis teams on Friday, the University of the Incarnate Word was dealt a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Lone Star Conference rival Cameron University at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex. (Results)

The #18 Aggies (17-2) took control of the match right from the start.  They won all three doubles matches with only the Cardinals (11-8) #2 team of Jair Assuncao and Tucker Brown giving the Aggies any problems when they forced a tie-breaker.

In singles play, the Cardinals tried to mount a comeback, but it came up short.  Leo Ivic won 7-5, 6-2 at #2 singles while Brown won his #4 singles matchup 6-3, 6-0.  Unfortunately, Brandon Davis, Aiden DeLeon and Luke Trautmann each lost tight matches to the Aggies.

The Cardinals are back in action at the LSC Tournament at the Southlake Tennis Center on April 19.
